Social Work Advocacy Reparations Call to Action Campaign:
Repair, Restore, and Reimagine: Social Work and the Global Movement for Black Reparations
Join social workers, scholars, students, and community members for a national virtual campaign focused on education, dialogue, and advocacy for reparations for people of African descent. The Social Work Advocacy Reparations Call to Action Campaign is an annual virtual initiative dedicated to advancing education, scholarship, and organizing around reparations for people of African descent.
The 2026 Social Work Advocacy Reparations Call to Action Campaign invites social workers, scholars, students, and community members to engage the urgent question of reparations for people of African descent. Rooted in the profession’s ethical commitment to social justice and human rights, the campaign highlights the role social workers can play in advancing reparative policies, community healing, and structural transformation.
From March 28 to June 12, 2026, social workers, scholars, students, and community members come together to deepen understanding of reparative justice and explore how the social work profession can contribute to repair.
This campaign recognizes that the pursuit of reparations is rooted in a long tradition of organizing by African-descended communities seeking justice for historical and ongoing harms including slavery, colonialism, racial discrimination, and structural inequality.
The campaign highlights the intersection of socialworkethics, human rights, and reparations advocacy, while also connecting struggles for justice in the United States to global movements for reparations across the African diaspora.
